UGANDA
represents the key market for INTERFREIGHT traffic, not only for
local business but also as transit hub for distribution to Rwanda/Burundi,
Eastern DRC Congo and Southern Sudan.
The Uganda economy is still
mostly agricultural based and exports of coffee, cotton, tea as
well as minerals and fish are handled by INTERFREIGHT on priority
basis. The industrial base is growing rapidly and many infrastructure
projects are under construction. This forms the vast customer
base of INTERFREIGHT in Uganda. The Oil and Gas industry is developing
rapidly since major oil deposits have been found in western Uganda
The INTERFREIGHT Inland
Container Terminal with in-house customs facilities is the leading
service provider for import/export and transit cargo via Kampala.
We have our own railway siding which can accommodate up to 14
wagons at once and which receives daily two train formations from
Mombasa via Malaba and/or Kisumu. Within the same facility we
handle all incoming and outgoing road transports and we therefore
operate a truly multi modal terminal. 4'500 m2 of newly constructed
warehouses further enhance this unique facility.
